The association of omega 3 fatty acids or fish consumption and cognitive outcomes in children

Summary of Research

We investigate the associations between omega 3 fatty acids (n3) and cognitive development in children. We performed a systematic review and a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials in which pregnant or lactating women were randomly given n3 capsules or placebo. Cognitive performance was measured in the children. We also analyzed the German cohort KiGGS dataset of 17’000 children, investigating the association of fish consumption and school performance.
