Fabrication of restored duplicates of broken historical Wax Moulages

Summary of Research

There is a need to restore historical wax moulages if they are used for teaching and in exhibitions. On the other hand, restoring historical objects always means to make traces of their use disappear which are part of the object’s history. The aim is to produce a restored duplicate of a damaged moulage by repairing the 3D-scanned object virtually on the computer. Then a negative form is 3D-printed and used as the new cast for the production of the duplicate.
